My tickets for a few shows at this year’s A Design Film Festival just came in today and I couldn’t be more excited.
“Conceived by Anonymous as a film festival dedicated solely to design, A Design Film Festival 2010 launched in Singapore and has travelled to Berlin, Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Bangkok.
The festival is an annual celebration of films dedicated to architecture, fashion, photography, street art, motion graphics, technology and the subcultures of design.”
I’ll be catching Yohji Yamamoto: This is My Dream (“a highly anticipated documentary… an exclusive, intimate film on the notoriously private Japanese fashion design icon…”), and another film which literally revolves around London’s monumental urban designs, and one more about yet another Japanese fashion icon, Jun Takahashi of cult label Undercover (he who has been followed by everyone from Time, to Forbes, to Diane Pernet’s ASVOF). Exciting, exciting stuff.
Speaking of things that excite, Takahashi’s “Openstrings” (Undercover’s SS 2012 line) makes my heart skip a few beats… a steady staccato which mighty sounds like “desire, desire, desire” as I go through the whole collection. They (the clothes) speak to my aesthetics, ya know?
A Design Film Festival runs from 3-20 November 2011. 15 films will be shown in 28 exclusive screenings. Everything is going to be at Sinema, Old School (Mt. Sophia, Singapore) which happens to be one of the truly Old Cool (!) places around town. I haven’t been there in a couple of years or so, hence the whole ADFF event has really gotten me excited for other reasons apart from the films themselves.
